Job overview

Bridgwater College Academy is an independent but wholly Government funded school for 3 to 16 year olds in Bridgwater.

This role involves the supervision and guidance of whole classes during the short term absence of teachers. It will also involve invigilating exams and accompanying staff and pupils on educational visits. 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term time, plus INSET days). Working hours: 8:10am to 2:50pm 4 days per week, 8:10am to 4:00pm 1 day per week.

The successful applicant will be able to relate positively to young people, managing behaviour to ensure they have a supported, constructive learning environment.

We are seeking individuals with an understanding and a high personal level of emotional intelligence, as well as the ability to use their own initiative and to work collaboratively with others.

The post would be excellent training for anyone considering a career in teaching specifically, or working with young people in general.

Bridgwater College Academy is the only all-through mainstream Academy in Somerset and opened in 2012.  Student numbers are divided equally between Primary and Secondary phases; we also have a nursery provision too. The Academy was the first sponsored Academy within the Bridgwater and Taunton College Trust, which now hosts seven Academies and is itself set to continue to expand in the future.
