Job Title:            Cover Supervisor 

Location:        Reddish Hall School, Stockport, Greater Manchester

Salary:                 £20,500 per annum 

Hours:                 37.5 hours per week

Contract:           Permanent, Term Time only

We are seeking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to cover teaching and learning across the school to improve consistency when teachers are on PPA, in school meetings or absent. You will be responsible for delivering teaching and learning during their absence. You will be skilled at engaging and motivating pupils who find learning a challenge in this all age special school for pupils with behaviour and learning difficulties including SEMH, ASD.

Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN/ASC environment would be desirable, excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

You will be calm, engaging, resilient, and have an innovative style of teaching, motivated by helping every child to reach their potential.

Reddish Hall School is a co-educational school catering for students aged 5-18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviours. The school accepts students with social and emotional difficulties, though our students may face additional challenges and diagnoses including ADHD, ASC, SpLD, MLD, OCD, Dyslexia, Attachment Disorder, Dyscalculia, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome and a variety of other conditions. Additionally, many of our students have serious social issues and very difficult home lives resulting in complex emotional difficulties.

Main Purpose

  • Leading whole classes while cover teachers are away
  • Dealing with challenging behaviour in the classroom
  • Making sure all students are focused and on track to meeting the lesson objectives
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons
  • Help any students who are struggling with the work set for their cover lessons
  • Undertake such duties as are delegated by SLT
