Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School is rapidly expanding and we are currently looking for a Cover Supervisor/unqualified teacher to join our supportive and creative team, dedicated to the teaching and learning of all students.  We have encouraged and supported many of our cover supervisors to go on to become qualified teachers and have been able to offer internal training opportunities so we are particularly looking for candidates who are considering a career in teaching.

The Role:

This role will offer you the ideal opportunity to develop your classroom management skills and experience and you will also have the opportunity to get involved in many other aspects of school life. If you are thinking about becoming a teacher, this role will give you invaluable skills and we will fully support your development.

Grade: H4, SCP6

Hours: 37 hours per week (working between 7:30am to 5:00pm on a rota - with 30 minute unpaid lunch)

F/T Salary: £21,968 plus fringe allowance

Actual Salary:£18,371.56 pro-rata

Annual Leave Entitlement: 5.4 weeks (during School Holidays)

About you:

Successful candidates should be outgoing, confident and supportive, with good interpersonal skills. The ability to form positive relationships with young people and excellent classroom management skills are essential. Applications from those considering a career in teaching and wishing to contribute to other aspects of school life outside the classroom are particularly welcome.

Training will be provided, however, successful candidates must be educated to A level or above, have strong ICT skills and hold English and Maths GCSEs at grade C or above. 

Our recent interim Ofsted Inspection (Oct 21) stated “There is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if we were to carry out a section 5 inspection now”. The 2019 GCSE results place the school in the top 10% of schools nationally.

Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School is a mixed, comprehensive, Roman Catholic secondary school with sixth form situated in St Albans, Hertfordshire. It is also part of The Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust (DOWAT), which sponsors eleven faith schools in the Diocese of Westminster.
