We are looking for a professional, dynamic and flexible Cover Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate should be passionate about supporting young people in their learning, will enjoy engaging with our students and also demonstrate excellent behaviour management skills and an ‘inclusive ethos’.
Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable but is not essential as full training and support will be given. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a secondary education setting as a full teaching qualification is not a prerequisite. However, a good standard of literacy and numeracy is required with sound subject knowledge across all areas. This might be demonstrated through educational qualifications or previous professional experience.
The job involves covering whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. Work will be set but you will need to respond to questions, maintain good order and keep pupils on task. Cover Supervisors undertake a range of tasks to assist the smooth running of the school, such as helping with the management/preparation of resources and working with smaller groups of students outside of lessons.
The Weald is an outstanding, high achieving, popular and oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive school, situated in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, 10 minutes from Horsham, 35 minutes from Guildford and Brighton, and an hour by train to London. The school was judged to be ‘Outstanding in all areas’ by Ofsted. Progress 8 results consistently place us in the top 10% of schools nationally.
If you relish the opportunity of working in a supportive and stimulating professional environment, The Weald School would welcome your application.
Closing date: 10am, Tuesday 22 January 2019
An application form and further details may be downloaded from the ‘Work at The Weald’ page (Support Staff Vacancies) on our website www.theweald.org.uk.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
