OUR SCHOOL

 Kensington School is a co-educational, independent, British School in Spain, housed in purpose-built campus in the suburbs of this dynamic and attractive city.

Around 1100 students between the ages of 18 months and 18 years are registered here. The school offers the English National Curriculum up to the age of 14, after which children can opt to follow an IGCSE programme, or the Spanish National Curriculum. Our student body is predominantly Spanish, although with a growing international component. The school is an I.B. candidate school, and intends to offer the IB Diploma programme from September 2023. We are characterised by a warm, friendly ethos, a close relationship with our families and the children in our care, and a commitment to academic and sporting excellence.

ROLE SUMMARY & JOB PURPOSE 

We have a vacancy for a Secondary cover teacher in this popular, well-subscribed school on the outskirts of Madrid.

The role would involve substituting Secondary class teachers in the event of long-term absence, including possible tutorial roles. During periods when no such substitution is required, the cover teacher would offer support teaching across the Secondary department.

The teacher appointed to the present full-time post will form part of a close and supportive Secondary department. The post would be to commence in September 2023.

To implement and deliver the UK National Curriculum according to the age, aptitude and the abilities of the pupils being taught which maintaining the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside of the classroom at all times. They will contribute to constructive team building amongst teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and members of the board of directors. We are looking for an exceptional teacher who has at least 2 years experience teaching the subject with students aged 11-18 , and who are committed to a strive for excellence and continuous improvement. They will be be in the possession of an EU passport or the right to work in Spain.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

This position will be responsible for the following:

 

·      Substitution of Primary staff on long-term absence, where necessary.

·      Teaching a full-time timetable of support across the Secondary school.

·      Commitment and interest in group planning.

·      Tutorial responsibilities, when adopting the substitution role.

·      Willingness to take part in educational trips and visits.
