This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, inspirational and experienced leader, with a SENCO qualification, to widen their experience as part of forward thinking extended leadership team.

Our inclusive and positive ethos is ensuring our students are highly aspirational and eager to learn. We have just celebrated record breaking public examination results in 2016 with many students achieving top grades at both GCSE and A level.  Our ambition is to become an outstanding school in the next two years.   

 In September 2015 we became a 3-19 All through school.  Our purpose built self-contained primary buildings opened in September 2016; and 36 new secondary classrooms and 14 science laboratories opened in January of this year. Our mission statement, ‘getting the best for and from all our learners’ is fast becoming a reality.   

 We are seeking a well-qualified and resilient leader who will play a key role in the further development of teaching, learning and assessment, supporting our commitment to ensuring all students achieve their very best. The successful candidate will be a champion for education as a vehicle to improve the life chances of all the young people in our local community, with a specific focus on young people special educational needs, are looked after, EAL and/or have medical care plans. 

The school is located less than 10 minutes’ walk from Barking tube and mainline station (25 minutes from Liverpool Street station) and is easily accessible by road.

Eastbury Community School is part of a successful 6th form partnership arrangement with four other local secondary schools.  This partnership will potentially cater for the educational needs of over 1000 pupils studying a diverse range of academic and vocational courses. We have had increasing numbers of pupils achieving top grades in our sixth form; in 2019 we had 24% A*/A and an average grade of B-.  Although we cannot publish 2020 grades, we improved on this and our 3-year ALPS measure is a 3, which places us in the top 25% for value added. This was also reflected in the destinations of our pupils, with multiple pupils gaining places at Oxbridge, plus Imperial College London, the LSE and KPMG apprenticeships. Overall, 64% of our pupils went on to study at Russell Group or top third universities. Just like skills and character traits, our pupils have a range of abilities. What we consistently do here, is push them to achieve no matter what their starting point is.
