Recruitment & Retention Bonus for English Teachers

We are delighted to offer a Recruitment & Retention Bonus of up to £4,500 for this role. The bonus will be paid as follows:

  •  £1,500 upon appointment
  • £1,500 upon successful completion of your first year
  • £1,500 paid upon successful completion of your second year


This is an exciting opportunity to lead the English department at St Aldhelm’s Academy. Dynamic, forward thinking and absolutely committed to changing the lives of all young people, we need a curriculum lead who will share our inclusive and positive ethos as our pupil numbers continue to rise. You will be an inspiring, experienced teacher with excellent subject knowledge and a supportive nature.


We are looking for a Curriculum Leader of English who:

  • Has a passion for their subject and the ability to make their subject come alive with inspirational and interactive lessons which challenge and support all pupils to secure the best outcomes.
  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge.
  • Demonstrates ambitious standards and has high expectations for all pupils ensuring that there is a robust curriculum and assessment framework underpinned by a strong extra-curricular provision.
  • Has a record of raising standards across key stages 3 and 4.
  • Has excellent organization skills
  • Can drive forward strategic priorities and translate these into practical actions.
  • Demonstrates professionalism consistent with the Trust’s values: aspirational, collaborative, inclusive, innovative and responsible underpinned with a high degree of emotional intelligence.


This role can provide excellent preparation for a subsequent move to Senior Leadership which the successful candidate may be aspiring to in the next few years.

St Aldhelm's Academy is a 900 PAN-pupil school which currently has 845 students. St Aldhelm’s joined Ambitions Academy Trust in 2015 and educates boys and girls aged between 11 and 16.
