The School is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced Curriculum Leader of Design and Art with highest order leadership skills, to help ensure that this is a truly outstanding school with outstanding provision in this area. We are looking for an exceptional Visual Arts specialist, with the ability to teach up to A Level and the capacity to be able to contribute more widely to teaching across the Team and the School.
The successful candidate will lead an established team, contributing fully to maintaining excellence by inspiring and motivating both staff and students.
In particular, candidates should have:
· The capacity to contribute to the development of the School’s ethos
· The ability to inspire and motivate others and to manage change effectively
· High expectations of students in terms of learning, achievement and behaviour
· Enthusiasm for developing innovative approaches to learning, teaching and student participation
· An excitement about the potential of new technologies to transform students’ learning experiences
· An excellent track record of teaching and developing GCSE and AS/A2 in the Visual Arts as demonstrated through exemplary examination results
· A clear understanding of the current curriculum, assessment and pedagogical developments relating to Design Technology and the Visual Arts at all Key Stages

About Heston Community School
Heston Community School is a mainstream, co-educational, non-denominational, state-academy, secondary school for children aged 11-19. It is situated in Hounslow in Middlesex and it has 1220 pupils on its roll.
The school was officially opened by the Charter Mayor in 1932 at a cost of £21,700 and attended by what was described as one of the largest and most representative assemblies which had ever gathered in Heston.
More recently the Hogarth Building was opened in 2010 and a purpose-built sports facility and a state of the art learning and teaching facility.

The introduction, in September 2015, of a programme to encourage pupils to challenge themselves and work hard, has been welcomed. Teachers provide a range of activities and pupils were keen to explain to inspectors how they stretch themselves by the choices they make. Pupils enjoy coming to school, work hard and have excellent relationships with their teachers.”
