Job overview

Curriculum Leader of Mathematics

Required for August 2017

Salary: L9 - L13 (£47,967 - £52,930)

An exciting opportunity for a talented and ambitious practitioner to join the fastest improving mathematics department in Leicester.

Over the last 12 months pupil progress within mathematics has improved by almost a full grade (most improved P8 in the city) along with attainment improving by 15% since 2016 results (second most improved in the city).

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic Curriculum Leader to build on the rapid progress already made by the department. You will be well supported, working alongside a senior leader who is a mathematic specialist and leads on whole school data.  Within the department you will also benefit from being able to deploy the skills of the Lead Practitioner to further support the development of staff and students.  In addition to this you will be able to draw on the experiences of other subject leaders from across the Trust.

This is a critical role in the next phase of the Academy’s journey to secure sustained improvement. You will be a key stakeholder in the development of both teaching and learning and wider strategic planning. This role would suit a skilled classroom practitioner who is already an experience middle leader or who is seeking to develop their leadership skills within their first middle leadership post.

To be successful in this role you will need to:

• Be passionate about improving the life chances of learners

• Be committed to developing other practitioners

• Be an excellent classroom practitioner

In return we will provide you with:

• The opportunity to work with our outstanding students

• A bespoke middle leadership programme with potential for further career progression

• An excellent mathematics staff with a highly effective leadership group to support your development

• The opportunity to work with other leaders from across the Tudor Grange Academies Trust

Visits from prospective applicants are strongly encouraged and can be arranged by contacting Mrs Fletcher-Warrington on 0116 278 0232 or email MFletcherWarrington@samworth.tgacademy.org.uk

If you have strong inter-personal skills, are ambitious for yourself and your students and have the ability to inspire and lead others, we welcome your application and look forward to hearing from you.

Closing date for applications is 9th March 2018.  Please note that CVs will not be accepted.

“The recruitment process is robust in seeking to establish the commitment of candidates to support the school’s measures to safeguard children and to identify, deter or reject people who might pose a risk of harm to children or are otherwise unsuited to work with them”.
