Sir John Hunt Community Sports College has enjoyed huge success in the past few years. Having secured a Good Ofsted judgement, we are now driving towards becoming an outstanding College.
We are looking for an outstanding Middle Leader to raise student achievement and the quality of teaching and learning of Mathematics in our College. We seek someone with high levels of motivation and aspiration who will rise to the challenge of being a Curriculum Leader.
The successful applicant will have the following attributes:
Essential:
- Track record of securing high standards in the classroom
- Experience of Middle Leadership
- Successful experience of raising standards
- Experience of teaching up to A Level
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills necessary to lead a team of staff
- Extra-Curricular contribution
Desirable:
- Experience of leading Numeracy
- Experience gained from a range of secondary schools
Maths Teacher
The college is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and skilled mathematician, to teach across all Key Stages to join a highly motivated and supportive team committed to improving outcomes for our students. This is an excellent opportunity to join a College with a forward thinking philosophy, a commitment to quality CPD and a positive, friendly atmosphere. This post is suitable for both experienced and newly qualified teachers with the potential to contribute to A-level delivery for a suitable candidate.

Sir John Hunt is a non-denominational, co-educational secondary with sixth form in Plymouth, Devon. As of the most recent inspection there were 728 students on the school roll, of which 168 were in sixth form. The school is located next to Whitleigh Community Primary School. The school is named for British Army officer who is best known as the leader of the successful 1953 British Expedition to Mount Everest, in which Edmund Hillary became the first man to reach the summit. The school motto is ‘to greater heights’.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection was a great success and recognised the commitment of our staff to improving the College and securing the very best outcomes for our students. The College was judged to be ‘Good’ across all areas inspected.
