Copthall School is looking to appoint an energetic and passionate Curriculum Leader of Drama to join the school’s small but thriving Performing Arts Team. The Performing Arts team at Copthall consists of Drama, Music and Dance specialists and we are looking for a Drama specialist to take responsibility as the subject lead with the support of the Curriculum Leader of Performing Arts.

Drama is a popular subject at Copthall, attracting students of all abilities to study the Edexcel GCSE specification. The school is committed to supporting the subject to grow and develop both in the classroom and through the school’s wider enrichment offer.

Drama is currently taught at Key Stage 3 and 4, however in the near future we are keen to re-establish the subject at KS5 either as an A level or as part of a vocational Performing Arts qualification.

The successful candidate will be a well-qualified and highly motivated Drama specialist who is a strong team player and whose passion for Drama and the performing arts will inspire and engage our students. As a school we strive to deliver and broad and diverse curriculum and we welcome teachers who can boast a far-reaching knowledge of different theatrical styles and conventions that will inspire our students.

Academic excellence, inclusivity and strong pastoral care is what we are renowned for.  We create a safe and nurturing space and we work in partnership with a range of organisations and companies to build our students’ confidence, broaden their experiences and develop their curious minds.  We believe that all students can achieve highly regardless of their starting points. This year, 2022/23 our Headteacher is the President of ASCL which means she will be able to represent and influence on a national level.

Our outcomes for GCSEs and A-Levels/Vocational remain strong and we have a thriving Sixth Form. We boast an excellent success rate in University applications and we are proud that not only do our students gain places in a range of universities including Oxford and LSE, they also secure degree apprenticeships with organisations such as TFL and the Bank of England.
