Curriculum Leader of Geography

MPS / UPS

TLR2b

Full time and Permanent

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative Curriculum Leader of Geography to join our growing, dynamic and supportive school. We are looking for someone who is committed to securing high standards and raising academic attainment with a passion to educate and inspire the next generation.

Here at Horsforth School, we aim to create opportunities and support achievement for our students and colleagues alike.

As a passionate Geography teacher, you will combine your expert knowledge and deep understanding to inspire students to create a lifelong love of learning, both within and beyond the classroom setting. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher with a successful track record in delivering both GCSE and A level Geography. You will ensure that students studying Geography are appropriately challenged and supported and intervene where necessary. You will have the opportunity to work in a supportive and experienced department with a strong team ethos. We believe in working collaboratively, sharing ideas and supporting each other to achieve great things as we develop innovative teaching and learning strategies.

We have recently opened a new and exciting 6th Form campus which includes a dedicated space for our Year 12 & 13 students to study. The new facilities include an assembly/dining hall, classrooms and state of the art science labs and IT facilities along with a common room with barista station, booths, sofas and work stations.

Success is seen throughout our ambitious and consistently oversubscribed 11-19 school, which enjoys strong community and international links. Our commitment to excellence in education is recognised nationally. Ofsted describe us as a ‘good school with outstanding features’. GCSE and A Level results are consistently well above the national averages and in 2022 the school had the best A Level results in the whole of Leeds. Horsforth School was also named one of the top schools in Yorkshire in The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide in 2022.

For our 1400 students, Horsforth School provides an engaging environment of discovery and growth. For our colleagues too, this setting offers some great benefits. Located in north-west Leeds, the school is just five miles from the city centre with its thriving retail, leisure and cultural facilities, yet on the edge of open countryside. York, Harrogate and the Dales are within easy reach.
