Hampton Court House is an award-winning independent co-educational day school for ages 2 – 18, educating children in Pre-Nursery to students in Year 13. The majority of our 300 pupils elect to stay on to complete their full education with us, enjoying great success in their GCSEs and A Levels. We seek a passionate, energetic and qualified teacher and curriculum leader of Music for our Senior School. Hampton Court House values the Performing Arts. The Music department works closely with the Dance, Drama and Art departments to produce a range of performances, and prospective candidates can expect to be part of a thriving and supportive team.


The successful applicant will be able:

·      To develop and promote extra-curricular activities in Music.

·      To be jointly responsible for the staging of concerts and for the musical contribution to other important whole school events such as evening recitals and musical productions

·      To plan, deliver and assess KS3, GCSE and A-Level curriculum.

·      To lead and inspire the learning and teaching of music in the Senior School

·      To lead on promoting the subject and ensure it is thriving throughout the school, including GCSE and A level Music


We are looking for someone with:

·      A passion for educating, inspiring and understanding children and teenagers

·      A love of learning and a commitment to continued professional development

·      A fascination with the many varied and different methods of challenging and inspiring children and teenagers both inside the classroom and outside

·      A desire to participate actively in the life of a busy and ambitious school

·      A belief that every pupil can succeed beyond their expectations

·      A sense of adventure as well as a sense of humour

·      An interest in the peoples, cultures and languages of the world


The role will report to the Director of Performing Arts. This is a maternity cover position with the possibility to extend to a permanent role. We may consider candidates wishing to work part time (0.8).

Nestled in Bushy Park, Richmond-upon-Thames, Hampton Court House is an independent co-educational day school for ages 2 – 18, educating Early Years children in our Pre-Prep School & Nursery, The Little Courtiers, to students in Year 13. 

The majority of our pupils elect to stay on to complete their full education with us, enjoying great success in their GCSEs and A Levels: in 2023, 40% of A Level grades were awarded A*/A, resulting in a 100% Oxbridge and Russell Group application success rate. Our GCSE results were equally strong, with 70% of all GCSE grades being awarded A*/A. Hampton Court House was in 2022 ranked in the top 50 independent schools nationwide (The Telegraph) and in the top 10 co-educational independent schools in London (School Owl, 2023).

The school is located close to Hampton Court station, which is 35 minutes from Waterloo and 20 minutes from Wimbledon by train. There are also frequent buses to and from Kingston, Hampton, Teddington and Twickenham, or for staff who drive, there is on-site parking.
