Job overview

We are currently looking to appoint a new Curriculum leader of RS who has a real passion for their subject and is equipped with the skills to maximise outcomes for students in RS at both KS3 and KS4.

Religious Studies at KPHS has previously formed part of the larger Social Sciences department and lessons in Key Stage 3 were taught as social studies - which was a blend of Religious Studies, Citizenship and RSE. During some recent changes we have adapted the KS3 curriculum offer to ensure that Citizenship and Religious Studies are taught as separate subjects. We are now looking for a Curriculum leader of Religious Studies to adapt and shape an already diverse and effective curriculum for our students at KS3 which incorporates the essential knowledge alongside RSE content and the SACRE requirements. Religious Studies at KS4 has been a very popular option choice for our students at KPHS in recent years and we hope our new Curriculum Leader will continue to increase the subject popularity through the mapping, sequencing and execution of a new KS3 curriculum model. Furthermore, this is an exciting time to remap the Religious Studies curriculum and to further align the subject intent with the school’s overall intent - ‘we cooperate, we pioneer, we belong.’

The new Curriculum Leader will lead two other RS teachers in the department and will continue to work closely with the existing Citizenship department which is similarly made up of a Curriculum Leader and two Citizenship teachers. Both departments will take joint responsibility in helping to promote statutory requirements of RSE and will take an active role in the preparation of whole school assemblies, activities and possible drop-down days. Both departments will have access to a large work area for staff to collaboratively plan, regularly communicate and offer opportunities for assessment moderation. The new Curriculum Leader of Religious Studies will be supported by an established member of SLT and will work alongside experienced and motivated staff.

The post will be paid on the Schools Teachers Pay Spine, MPS/UPS + TLR2b.

For more information please download the Application Pack or visit www.kingswaypark.org or www.altusep.com. Alternatively, contact Fatima Rashid, HR Officer: recruitment@altusep.com for an application pack.

Interviews are expected to take place on Friday 17th February 2023.

Altus Education Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

In accordance with the recommendations set out in KCSIE the Trust carries out online searches on shortlisted candidates.
