Cove School is seeking a passionate and dedicated professional to fill the role of Curriculum Leader of Vocational Learning. Our vocational curriculum currently encompasses child development and health and social care. The previous DT (Product Design – Timber) has been temporarily suspended due to staff, presenting an exciting opportunity for a visionary Curriculum Leader of Vocational Learning to introduce a new technology subject for our September 2024 curriculum offer and look to redesign the whole vocational learning area which includes 3 rooms, a work area, office and prep room. We boast a dedicated suite of three technology rooms, including two DT workshops, a spacious classroom area, and a large graphics room.

Role and Opportunity: This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a talented, well-qualified, and inspiring teacher to lead and develop a new vocational learning curriculum. The role will encompass child development, health and social care, and the introduction of a new GCSE in Design or Product Technology. The successful candidate will be an expert in the 'hard' technology area and will teach the subject from Years 7 to 11. We will look to expand the team once the right leader is in place. There is already a teacher in charge of Child Development and H&SC who will manage the day to day running of this area.

Key Responsibilities:

As the overall leader of Vocational Studies, you will be responsible for the quality of provision within the vocational area. This includes the curriculum offer and content, teaching and learning, pastoral support, learning resources, recruitment, and the overall student experience. Leadership by example, support and motivation of staff, and building strong relationships with stakeholders are essential aspects of this role.

1)     Curriculum Development:

Design and implement a comprehensive vocational learning curriculum that aligns with industry standards and meets the needs of diverse learners.

2)     Program Management:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of vocational at Cove School, ensuring effective delivery, assessment, and continuous improvement.

3)     Staff Leadership:

Lead and inspire a team of dedicated vocational educators, providing mentorship, professional development, and fostering a collaborative culture.

4)     Industry Partnerships:

Establish and maintain strong partnerships with local businesses, industries, and community organizations to enhance students' exposure to real-world applications of their skills.

5)     Quality Assurance:

Develop and implement systems for quality assurance, in line with school policies, ensuring that vocational programs meet or exceed accreditation standards.

6)     Student Support:

Implement strategies to support the academic and personal development of students within the vocational learning programs.

7)     Budget Management:

Work collaboratively with the school Bursar to manage the budget for vocational learning programs effectively.

  • Ability to motivate staff and students through inspirational teaching.
  • Strong strategic vision, suitable for existing and aspiring future leaders.
  • Leadership experience and a commitment to promoting a positive learning environment.
