Nelson and Colne College, an Outstanding education provider with excellent facilities and unparalleled staff benefits, are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Curriculum Leader - Pastoral (A-Level) to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis from August 2018.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding leader, focused on student progress and leading the team delivering A-Level tutorial. The ideal candidate will take responsibility for leading wider college pastoral support and for the area’s resources.
We are particularly looking for candidates who can teach either Sociology, Politics, Economics or History.
Main duties include:
- Be up to date, plan and prepare high quality teaching as required by your Line Manager to the appropriate number of hours (210 hrs remission)
- Develop and share resources for the course/subject including maintaining effective links across College for resources
- Deliver extra-curricular and enhancement activities
- Undertake required assessment duties in relation to student assignments
- Maintain comprehensive, up to date, student/course/subject records and provide information, as requested
The ideal candidate will have:
- Relevant degree level or appropriate professional qualification
- Recognised teaching qualification or a willingness to achieve this within three years of appointment
- Compliance with CPD requirements
- A higher degree or advanced qualification (desirable)
- Successful teaching experience in a relevant subject area
- Ability to assess and implement staff development requirements
- Knowledge of and proven ability to deliver the curriculum successfully
- Experience of providing an outstanding teaching, learning and assessment experience
- Share best practice with other partners/organisations

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms.
Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
