Lancashire Adult Learning are looking for a Curriculum Leader in Preparation for Life to join their enthusiastic team on a permanent basis working 37 hours per week.

Leading the team delivering Preparation for Life adult courses, the ideal candidate will focus on driving the curriculum to meet learner’s needs by embracing the college ethos that every adult learner will achieve their full potential with outstanding teaching & learning. 

Main duties include:

• Lead the team delivering Preparation for Life adult courses as well as have the ability and skill to drive the Curriculum area to meet student need in accordance with local and national priorities

• Ensure the areas of teaching and learning are of outstanding quality

• Take responsibility for achieving the section’s targets in retention, attendance, achievements, high grades, added value and student satisfaction

• Ensure professional development activities are appropriately planned for the team

• Teach up to a maximum of 330 hours annually, modelling outstanding practice 

• Develop and share resources for the course/subject including maintaining effective links across College for resources

The ideal candidate will have:

• Degree in a relevant subject area or appropriate professional qualification

• Recent leadership and management training

• Recognised teaching qualification 

• A higher degree or advanced qualification

• Successful teaching experience in a relevant subject area

• Knowledge of and proven ability to deliver the curriculum successfully

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
