Hospitality, leisure and tourism is a growth area within Sunderland and the wider economic region with employment opportunities projected to increase up to 30% by 2024. Sunderland College is ideally placed to meet this demand, providing outstanding learning opportunities for students through the implementation of our career focused curriculum that encompasses Study Programme, Adult, Higher Education and Commercial all set within our £30m City campus.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative individual who has the expertise and ambition to develop a careers focused curriculum for all income streams across Hospitality, Tourism and Engagement at Sunderland College.

To meet our expectations, the successful candidate will be a highly motivated, innovative individual who strives for excellence at all times; demonstrating a breadth of knowledge and experience from both industry and education to inform curriculum development in line with current and future reform. Having a minimum of a level 5 qualification in a relevant discipline and teaching qualification are essential criteria alongside a proven track record of success regarding Quality of Education. 

A proactive approach to working in collaboration with key employers to strengthen our reputation across the sector is essential; a focus will be upon developing and maintaining industry contacts to provide outstanding learning opportunities and career destinations. 

Vision, drive and determination to lead on the review, development and improvement of the curriculum across all provision is essential. The successful candidate must have experience of operationally supporting curriculum management evidencing accurate, impactful data and quality assurance. In addition, leading by example regarding innovative and outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, demonstrating resilience and a positive attitude are key. You will be an integral part of the campus management structure, driving forward the College’s strategic approach to improving Quality of Education.

Leading by example and inspiring staff to support positive experience, progress and destination of students and apprentices by setting high expectations of responsibility, accountability and ownership. Role modelling the professional values of Education Partnership North East, leading and managing to inform a culture of excellence is essential
