Covering 16-18 study programmes and adult delivery you will lead, motivate, develop and manage your curriculum team. You will have a proven track record of improving standards in education that will drive students towards aspirational destinations.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the recruitment and induction of your team members ensuring that individuals are engaged and high performing.
  • Responsible for the performance management and development of your team members through timely appraisals and probationary reviews, identifying specific CPD needs that supports effective succession planning.
  • Responsible for the development of the curriculum to meet the needs of students, local employers and LEP priorities, adopting an innovative, research-based approach.
  • Continually scanning the horizon to identify the possible impacts of the ‘external environment’ including education policy, customer and competitor analysis.
  • Responsible for the planning and utilisation of the resources required for your area including the people, physical space, equipment and materials required by the area.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree educated in a relevant discipline
  • Level 2 maths and English
  • Substantial and relevant CPD with the minimum level to satisfy the Professional Standards requirement over the past 3 years
  • Teaching qualification (Cert Ed or PGCE)
  • Level 3 or above management qualification (or willing to work towards, support will be provided)

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.   

Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
