We are seeking to appoint an outstanding leader of Computer Science, business, economics and ICT, who has the vision and determination to raise student outcomes across the faculty. The successful applicant will ideally be responsible for teaching the programming and algorithmic thinking aspects of Computer Science as well as providing strategic direction across the other three disciplines. You will be joining a rapidly developing and forward-thinking team of staff across the school that are committed to continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will:

  • provide inspirational leadership so that all students make exceptional progress
  • an outstanding, passionate and highly motivated teacher with a proven track record of examination success across key stages 4 and 5
  • analyse progress and attainment data to make data-driven changes to curriculum design, and pupil interventions
  • develop innovative schemes of work which are inspiring for learners and teachers alike and feed into standards based assessments
  • create and sustain a positive department culture, where staff feel collectively supported and developed
  • play an integral role in the development of our middle leadership team as we advance on our journey to outstanding

About Heanor Gate Spencer Academy

Heanor is a small town, situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park and the Derwent Valley World Heritage site within easy reach of Derby, Nottingham and the M1. The school is located in the south-west of the town and its catchment area includes most of Heanor and nearby Loscoe, along with the rural parishes of Smalley, Shipley, Horsley Woodhouse and Morley. The school is popular, with a number of our students coming from outside the catchment area.
