Set in a 100-acre site, Princess Helena College (PHC) is one of England’s oldest girls’ schools. We’re currently looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Dance Teacher to join us for one year maternity cover from October 2018. It’s an opportunity to work in a vibrant, dynamic learning environment as part of a caring and dedicated staff team, and help each of our 200 pupils (aged 11 to 18) to achieve their full potential.

As a Dance teacher, you will play your part in exciting, enriching and empowering our pupils to prepare them for a competitive world. Organised and motivated, you will work to the highest standards and aim to fulfil the aims of the school. Able to build good working relationships with staff and pupils alike, you’ll be encouraging, professional and attentive to pupils’ pastoral and academic development.  It is essential that the candidate can teach the new AQA GCSE and A-Level specification, as well lead extra-curricular activities. They will be required to do all external examinations’ paperwork and take on the role of the Head of Department.

Founded in 1820, PHC has some 200 pupils, 45 of whom are in the vibrant and familial sixth form. About PHC Hitchin Independent School

Princess Helena College is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 11 to 18. Boarding at PHC takes place in a single boarding house, currently all girls, opening to boys for boarding from Sept 2020.

The school has a rich history. It was founded in 1820 in London by Princess August and Mrs Sophia Williams as the Adult Orphanage Institute. Its purpose was to educate girls whose fathers had been in the services or the Church and had died. In 1874, Princess Helena, the third daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, became the school’s president.

Princess Helena College is set in 180 acres of rolling fields and woodlands. It has a strong ethos of individualism and hard work. As a small school, Princess Helena College takes care to give each pupil individual attention.
