ROLE SUMMARY:
The British College of Gavà, an IB World School located just 20 minutes from Barcelona, is seeking to appoint a passionate and dynamic part-time Dance Teacher (0.3 FTE) to join our expanding school community from August 2025.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a purpose-built, thriving school with exceptional facilities. We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organised individual with strong subject knowledge who can inspire students from EYFS to IB level. The successful candidate will also contribute to our extra-curricular programme and support our new Performing Arts Pathway.
We are a growing school seeking potential leaders as well as excellent educators.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach dance styles such as ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, or cultural dance, tailored to student age and skill level.
- Deliver engaging lessons that promote movement, musicality, expression, and confidence.
- Prepare students for performances, exhibitions, and assessments.
- Collaborate with Drama and Music departments on interdisciplinary projects.
- Contribute to the wider school community and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
- Assess progress through performance and formative feedback.
- Support the school’s pastoral care system and extracurricular programme.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant Bachelor’s degree
- Experience teaching dance across a wide age range (EYFS through Secondary)
- Native-level English language proficiency
- Right to work in the EU
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the English National Curriculum
- Understanding or experience with the IB programmes (IBCP, IBDP)
- A recognised Master's or postgraduate qualification
- Strong ICT skills and experience with performance preparation
