City of Birmingham School is Birmingham City Council’s Pupil Referral Unit. The School has eight specialised teaching centres across the city offering personalised educational programmes to some of the most vulnerable children in the city. We have an exciting opportunity to appoint an enthusiastic and well-motivated School Data Manager. This is a new post, so offers the successful candidate the opportunity to develop the role to its full potential. This post requires a high level of understanding of data management and its complexities. There is also a very high demand for precision which will enable senior leaders to utilise the data/information provided to encourage and support positive outcomes for pupils.

You will have;

  • Experience of data gathering, reporting and statistical data analysis – preferably within a school setting
  • Experience and a thorough understanding of the structure and organisation of a school Management Information System (preferably Progresso)
  • Ability to summarise, analyse and interpret numerical data to identify issues/trends and patterns
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present both written and verbal information for the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and Governors.
  • A good level of understanding of a schools examination/accreditation procedures and processes 
  • A genuine desire to involve yourself fully in the life of our school and to work as part of our forward-thinking team of professionals.
  • Good interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with outside agencies, parent/carers and members of the public with tact and diplomacy
  • Frequent decision-making and the ability to exercise and use own initiative is key
  • Candidates must have excellent literacy and numeracy skills,
  • Highly skilled in the use of ICT, in particular Word, Excel and CMIS/Progresso.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
