About the Role
City of London Academies Trust (COLAT) is seeking to appoint a Data Manager from January 2024.
As the Data Manager, you will have responsibility for the Management Information System (MIS), students’ assessment, recording and reporting, providing comprehensive and professional administrative support for the Sixth Form, ensuring efficiency, accuracy and confidentiality at all times.
About Us
COLAT is driven by the ambition to be the best. We believe exceptional leaders create exceptional schools; they transform lives and shape the future of every student.
COLAT currently oversees six secondary academies, three primary academies and one sixth form centre all located in north, south and east London. We combine the heritage and tradition of the Corporation of London with a genuinely innovative, enterprising, and entrepreneurial ethos. We are also committed to providing training and development to all our staff, plus excellent career advancement opportunities within this evolving Trust.
Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre (The NCS) was established in 2014 with the aim of educating some of the brightest minds in Newham and East London, with a view to prepare them to attend some of the most competitive universities in the UK and abroad. In its first Ofsted inspection, The NCS was graded ‘Outstanding’ in all areas. Building on this success, and with excellent support provided by the Trust and sponsor, this is a great opportunity to lead our highly ambitious sixth form centre’s philosophy of making a real difference to the lives of young people.
The NCS provides a stimulating education and personalised curriculum within a supportive environment in which students are encouraged to stretch themselves academically to achieve their potential. The NCS offers an academic A-Level Curriculum with a specialism in Science and Maths, alongside strong pathways in Humanities. The A-Level Curriculum and the extra-curricular programme are focused on preparing students for progression to highly competitive universities in the UK and abroad.
In October 2021, Ofsted judged the NCS to be ‘Outstanding’ in every category and said:
“Learners at Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre benefit from studying in an environment dedicated to academic excellence.”
“In lessons, and around the sixth form, learner behaviour is impeccable.”
“Learners benefit from being taught by teachers who are subject experts."
Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre is based in the heart of an evolving community in East Ham/Newham, and we value the diversity of our workforce. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds to join our team.

NCS is recognised as one of the highest performing 16-19 Academies in the country with results which surpass many of the best known independent and grammar schools. Year on year, students receive offers from Russell Group universities, Oxbridge, and a growing number matriculate at Ivy League universities on full scholarships.
Our continuing academic excellence is a testament to the enthusiasm and dedication of both staff and students. We have recruited highly qualified teachers, specialists in their disciplines with a passion for their subject. Our teaching and innovative Super Curriculum programme go well beyond the narrow confines of the examination specification, offering our students the best preparation to enter the top universities in the UK and abroad. Our teachers have high expectations of their students, cultivating a deep understanding of their subject and love of learning. In return, students have high expectations of themselves.
Education is transformational and what goes on in the classroom has the strongest impact on student outcomes. Our staff continually engage in research-based professional development to ensure that pedagogy at the NCS is rooted in best practice (direct instruction) and at the forefront of educational thinking. Students flourish in an ambitious and aspirational environment but crucially they also enjoy a friendly and caring community. In return, we expect students to be driven, committed and to have high expectations of themselves.
We are part of the City of London Academies Trust, where we believe strongly in the transformational nature of education operating schools in areas of significant disadvantage. We understand that strong outcomes lead to improved life chances for our students, so we are unashamedly academic and unapologetically results driven. Each of our schools adopt a ‘warm/strict’ approach, combining high expectations with care and support. Our level of care means we never compromise on standards or expectations, ensuring that no student’s background becomes a reason for lowering the bar. Our schools maintain exemplary standards of behaviour, with systems, rituals and norms that instil strong habits. As a result, our schools provide an environment where our teachers can teach, and students can learn without disruption. We take great pride in fostering an exceptionally positive learning environment and we work meticulously to maintain our strong ethos and culture.
We combine the heritage and tradition of the Corporation of London with a genuinely innovative, enterprising, and entrepreneurial ethos. We look for ambitious and culturally aligned staff who are enthusiastic, hardworking, conscientious and energetic individuals. Our people want to work with students to ensure that, regardless of their background and circumstances, they will achieve to the best of their ability. In return, we offer a calm, orderly and respectful environment. We also offer a range of staff benefits and development opportunities which support your professional and career development. You will be able to learn from some of the best and most able practitioners in the country. There is a far-reaching commitment to ensuring that all our staff are given the access to excellent development and induction programmes.
