Job overview

Are you looking for a fresh challenge in a central London school with a cohesive staff body and an exceptionally aspirational student body?

Are you excited to lead a range of staff in developing their usage and understanding of data systems?

"You are ambitious for the students at the school. You are proud of their achievements and strive to ensure they do the best they can." OFSTED 2017

Westminster City School is a highly successful 11-18 boys’ Christian non-denominational comprehensive academy with a mixed Sixth Form. Ours is a vibrant learning community situated in the heart of central London with all the opportunities and advantages of an inner city school. The school was judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2017.We are pro-active in our ambition to become recognised as an “Outstanding” school and standards have improved considerably since that judgement. Data informs so much of what we do and how we measure improvement and this role is therefore vital to our continuing improvement as a school.

You, like us, will share our belief in helping to provide transformational learning in a comprehensive setting.  We are therefore seeking to recruit a professional and highly skilled data manager to specifically focus on improving and developing progress and achievement in Key Stage 3 and across Key Stage 4 and 5. Our school values of wisdom, integrity, compassion and excellence run through everything we do.

Our Data Manager will regularly extract, manipulate and analyse data in order for middle and senior leaders to provide relevant and appropriate support, intervention and enrichment to pupils and students at all key stages. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering and producing accurate and timely reports containing key data from across all Years 7 to Year 13. By using specific and sophisticated software including SIMS, SISRA, ALPS, Power BI and/or other systems, the Data Manager will produce data analysis reports for the school’s Leadership Group and Governing Body.  The post holder will ensure that data is presented in a manner suitable for all users so that they may in turn improve student progress and outcomes (including individuals, and specific groups such as FSM, EAL, SEND). This post holder will be instrumental in supporting data users throughout the school. A TLR is available for a colleague willing to develop the use of Power BI.

The successful candidate should have highly proficient analytical skills with an ability to produce and develop clear, concise, accurate progress reports for all year groups in order to raise standards of teacher, subject, department and student performance. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, is able to work under pressure with a wide range of people in a dynamic and exciting secondary school context.

We believe in developing our staff and have an energetic and supportive staff team and an effective CPD programme.  We welcome applications from experienced data managers ideally with previous experience in a school setting.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS.
