Job overview

We have an opportunity for a full-time Database Officer to join our Senior School Voorschoten team, just outside of The Hague.  This position involves maintaining, updating and developing our databases and is a vital role within the school, providing services that directly support student teaching, learning and achievement.

The British School in The Netherlands (BSN) is a leading British international school with four campuses in and around The Hague.  We also own a Language Centre (for children and adults) and our newly established International Leadership Academy. Our mission is to provide a world-class education to individual students, ages 3 to 18, of all nationalities – developing their potential whilst encouraging self-discipline and mutual respect.

As Database Officer you will mainly be working with the SIMS package, a school specific management information system.  You will also work with BlueSky, a performance management system, and with our IT team in developing a database to effectively manage and oversee room bookings for events etc.

Tasks will include running each academic reporting session – from setting up the mechanism for data collection, through to printing the final documents. You will work closely with the school’s Senior Leadership team, supporting them in their roles, through the use of the school’s databases.

Other responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Maintenance of an accurate and up-to-date management information system
  • Internal attainment grades
  • Set-making
  • Providing reporting and data analysis to staff

Requirements:

  • Excellent ICT skills and experience of working with databases (experience of working with SIMS or other management information systems will be an advantage)
  • A flexible and patient approach – you may be asked to undertake ad hoc reporting as required
  • Logical and analytical thinking, with problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Well organised with a good eye for detail

This role would suit a professional who would relish the challenge of providing an effective and efficient database management service to the school.  Training will be provided as necessary.

We offer the opportunity to work with talented professionals, who are committed to ensuring that our students are happy and engaged learners.  Attractive salaries and benefits, plus our commitment to your continual professional development, also make it worthwhile choosing to work at The BSN.
