University College Birmingham (UCB) is a long established provider of high quality vocational education with a strong focus on teaching and learning. With our origins in the skills sector UCB became a Higher Education Institution in 2002 and a University in 2012. We offer a specialist range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes alongside an exciting and highly successful mix of vocational further education courses. Over 11,000 students are enrolled at the University’s city centre sites, a significant number of further education students are taught within the Community.

The quality of our work has been recognised by the QAA, Ofsted and others through numerous audits, inspections and awards. The University’s financial performance is very strong and the University continues to expand. We have a well maintained estate and have recently embarked on the development of a new campus, the first phase of which opened in September 2014. Our highly professional, qualified and experienced staff are the backbone of our continuing success.

Dean – School of Education, Health and Community

The School of Education, Health and Community has a strong vocational focus and has undergone a period of growth over recent years. It has a portfolio which provides progression from Level 2 to Level 7, and includes full time, part time and apprenticeship provision.

The successful candidate will be able to provide leadership, support and direction to ensure the effective operation and development of the School. Experience of leading and managing within a higher and/or further education environment is essential. You will have a proven track record of engagement with employers for the benefit of students, staff and the curriculum. Your engagement with employers will maintain a vibrant, effective curriculum and enhance the student experience including placement opportunities.

You will also have a postgraduate qualification and a recognised teaching qualification.
