St Paul’s Girls’ School is an extraordinary institution. While we consistently achieve some of the best GCSE and Alevel results in the country, we believe education is about far more than exams. With fewer rules and no uniform, we actively nurture creativity, curiosity and a love of discovery. Our rich cocurricular programme builds confidence, encourages independence and strengthens our connection with the wider community. Its a distinctive environment ambitious, thoughtful and forward looking but most importantly, it is a place where people matter.

We are looking to recruit a Debating Coach for the academic year 2026–27, starting in September. The work is part-time and conducted in person in London, although it may also, on occasion, involve travelling to other parts of the UK for school tournaments.

Working with and instructing very keen students between the ages of 13 and 18, you will prepare and deliver weekly workshop sessions, accompany groups of students to in-person and online events, and provide detailed, constructive, actionable feedback to help students improve.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Recent high-level competitive debating experience at school and/or university

  • Experience coaching and a passion for helping young people develop as debaters, including beyond the classroom

  • The ability to create an approachable and friendly environment in the classroom

  • The ability to work independently and on your own initiative

St Paul's Girls' School is one of the UK's leading independent secondary schools for girls aged 11-18. We offer a classical yet forward-thinking education, providing talented young women with a dynamic and stimulating environment in which to learn and develop as individuals.

Education here is not just about passing exams, but rather about a sheer joy of learning. Individual research, discussion and debate are at the heart of our teaching. All students are encouraged to dig deeper, to explore ideas and to develop their own particular interests. Our broad and progressive curriculum places emphasis on creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship and is rich in opportunities to learn about new technologies and engage in cross-curricular projects. The aim is to give students the skills and confidence to lead the way in a modernising and fast-moving world.

This love of academic discovery is enriched by extensive co-curricular provision, the kindest and most individual of pastoral care and a commitment to partnerships and service to others.
