We wish to appoint a Director for SEND who can demonstrate experience, drive and aspirational leadership to set up a whole continuum of support for children with additional needs and their families, from identification and early help through to those in tripartite funded residential placements with EHCPs.
This leadership will support the improvement of services to children providing the right service at the right time, reducing the need for statutory processes and reducing over time the number of children who require an EHCP in order to meet their needs
The successful applicant will deliver an improved service for users and their carers and parents, which will be reflected in the lived experience of SEND support for families. Transformed services will incorporate full partnership working across the Council, CCG and with partners, to minimise the number of times families have to tell their story and feel they are working with ‘one team’. This will strengthen trust and confidence between families and the SEND system, and between different parts of the system.
The role will act in a formal deputy capacity to the Head of Education and Learning and provide strategic leadership and direction for the SEND service transformation.
