Job overview

We are seeking a DCL Head of History and Politics who will be responsible for leading excellence in History and Politics. 

This will include developing and maintaining a curriculum that enables young people to develop their knowledge understanding and skills in History and Politics and ensuring that suitable schemes of work are in place. You will need to be able to track, monitor and analyse assessment data and oversee the quality of teaching and outcomes.  

You should share our vision and our commitment both to high aspirations for academic scholarship alongside high expectations for behaviour and personal development.

Plumstead Manor is a thriving and popular secondary school located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. There has been a school on our site since 1913, with the first 105 years as a girls’ school. In response to local demand we admitted our first mixed cohort in 2018 and are now fully co-educational.

About Plumstead Manor School

Plumstead Manor is a thriving and popular secondary school located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. There has been a school on our site since 1913, with the first 105 years as a girls’ school. In response to local demand we admitted our first mixed cohort in 2018 and gradually move to being fully co-educational by 2022. 

We are a large, inclusive, comprehensive school and have capacity for 1,500 students aged 11-18. We have our own Sixth Form of around 300 students and welcome students from our own cohort as well as students from within the local area. Our students progress onto the full range of future pathways, including medicine and veterinary science courses at the most competitive universities and high-quality apprenticeships.
