Northern Education Trust is a not-for-profit education charity, operating within the North East and North West of England, and works with schools by invitation only. It was formed in 2012 and currently sponsors 22 Academies – 10 primary and 12 secondary – making it one of the largest Multi Academy Trusts in the North of England.  All of the Trust’s inspected schools are rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.

We constantly focus on standards as we understand outcomes are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for children. By doing this we enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care.

There may be an occasional requirement to travel to academies across the Trust.

Northern Education Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to work in the above key position within the Trust. Reporting directly to the Director of Data & GDPR, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels. You will also have experience of report writing and the development and implementation of policies.

You will be responsible for carrying out internal compliance checks to ensure that academies are adhering to Trust policies, procedures and practices including statutory requirements. You will be required to liaise with the Chief Financial Officer in updating the internal scrutiny plan and the scope of work for each financial year and to ensure that academy staff are implementing internal scrutiny recommendations.

You will work closely with the Trust’s information governance leads to ensure the trust complies with all legal requirements, including the UK Data Protection Act 2018, General Data Protection Regulation 2018, Freedom of Information Act 2000 and all other relevant national standards. You will also provide specialist support and advice across the trust on all information governance matters, including advice on and interpretation of legislation relevant to information governance and information management.

In accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022, an online search will be completed on all shortlisted applicants prior to interview. Any relevant information will be discussed further with the applicant during the interview process.

The Trust is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.
