Job overview

Now recruiting staff for the:

Deputy Director (EMHP)

Are you interested in training the next generation of child mental health practitioners to work in schools?

Hours: 17.5 hours (0.5 F.T.E), Monday-Wednesday
Salary: £40,000 to £53,000 FTE per annum, pro rata, plus 6% contributory pension scheme

The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families (AFC) supports distressed children and their families through innovative therapeutic practice and research, training and promoting awareness of mental health issues. In April 2019, the Centre opened its new Centre of Excellence located in King’s Cross.

The Children and Young People’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT) is a service transformation programme that aims to improve Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and develop the workforce. Both the Child Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) and Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) are national, funded programmes. The programmes have been introduced in response to government strategy seeking to support mental health needs in children and young people by training a workforce of new practitioners.

In collaboration with UCL as the degree awarding body, the AFC is undertaking a major recruitment exercise to support the delivery of this programme for 2019/2020 with other roles also currently available for experienced individuals to join the Postgraduate Studies team (see AFC website for further details).

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Deputy Director to support the ongoing development and delivery of the EMHP programme. This is an excellent opportunity for a teaching professional looking to expand their practice to support the training of well-being practitioners across educational settings. In this role, you will bring an education perspective to the programme, curriculum and training of EMHPs.

You may have a successful background in teaching, middle or senior leadership, SEND, pastoral or safeguarding arenas. You may be an experienced teacher or school leader who has worked in mainstream schools, pupil referral unit or alternative provision with children with SEND or have worked within a pastoral team coordinating intervention for children with SEMH.

The post-holder will be based at the Anna Freud Centre, 4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH.

The Centre values diversity and aims to have a workforce that reflects this. We encourage applications from all sections of the community.

Please note: due to volume of applications expected, we will be unable to notify unsuccessful candidates
