The London Borough of Bexley is committed to an ambitious programme for children and young people that places education and learning at the heart of local economic and social prosperity. We believe that the best possible outcomes for all our children will be achieved with good and outstanding schools and colleges, a strong special educational needs offer and effective policies and services supporting inclusion.

We have a newly established strategic education partnership, to ensure that all Bexley children are supported through a local shared programme of priorities with our local school community. Over the next two years, we aim to become a fully inclusive education system, without schools exclusions and with high quality support for children with special educational needs and/or disability. We hope our education to employment strategy supports improved relationships between schools and employers, so that every learner is confident and able to develop the skills they need to support their independence as young adults.

We now seek a new Deputy Director to lead our senior team.  You will be responsible for our youth and inclusion services, the provision of good education in all of our schools, colleges and early years’ settings and the successful implementation of reform associated with special educational needs and disability. We are ambitious for our children and we are looking for someone with a proven track record in supporting successful public services. We need you to be able to lead, shape, influence and innovate in the fields of education, skills and narrowing gaps for the most disadvantaged. A passion for working in partnership with local schools and colleges is essential.

If you are an effective strategic and operational manager with strong leadership skills, experience of managing performance, a commitment to partnership working and strong knowledge about education and skills development, then we would like to meet you!

Bexley is an outer London Borough with the best of both worlds, located between the hustle and bustle of London and the Garden of England, Kent. Within the borough we have award winning parks, open spaces and listed heritage sites.
