About Astrea Academy Trust

Astrea are an inclusive, all-through Trust that was established to tackle historic educational disadvantage and to play our part in the social regeneration of the areas in which we work.

Whilst the Trust has the highest expectations of pupil attainment in national assessments, our aspirations take us beyond the concept of “schooling” to one of Inspiring Beyond Measure. In short, Astrea educates, rather than schools and we hold this at the very heart of everything we do.

We believe it is a true privilege to be able to make a real difference in the lives and life chances of school children and if you feel the same way, then this appointment provides a wonderful opportunity for the right person to be part of this exciting and challenging mission.

The Role

Due to the recent growth of the Trust, an amazing opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Director of inclusion to work across the portfolio and to deputise for the Executive Director, where necessary.

Working to the Executive Director of Inclusion, you will help define and deliver a vision for cross phase provision which supports individual academy leaders to deliver outstanding educational provision across academies and which actively supports improvements in provision for pupils who are considered as at risk to underachievement. You will bring significant leadership experience with demonstrable impact from a range of senior leadership roles. You will be capable of working collaboratively with colleagues, parents and key stakeholders including the Department for Education, local authorities and Ofsted.

The successful candidate will define and develop school improvement support for leaders of primary, secondary and specialist academies; focus on and report on the progress of school improvement activities to the Executive Director of Education, Executive Director of Inclusion and Trustees; develop and build capacity to contribute to the growth and effectiveness of Astrea; and work in collaboration with the Deputy Director of Safeguarding.

You will play a leading role in the growth and development of Astrea and make a real difference to the life chances of the children and young people in our academies.
