Star Teachers SCITT is highly successful. It was judged to be Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in 2019 and now trains over around 100 trainees annually, operates across two hubs in the North West and West Midlands and has four full time staff and more than 10 part time tutors.
Who we’re looking for
The Star Institute – the learning and development centre of Star Academies - is seeking a skilled and experienced leader who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and young people through the recruitment and training of new teachers. This post will be a senior leader within the Institute’s SCITT, working with schools both within and outside of the Trust.
The successful post-holder will have a strong track record in leading and managing initial teacher training. You will be responsible for maintaining and exceeding the high standards of quality already achieved in the Star Institute’s teacher development provision. You will be responsible for the operational leadership of our SCITT and for growing and sustaining our ITE. You will engage positively and creatively with school leaders to help shape the provision and ensure that it meets schools’ needs and priorities. You will ensure that SCITT trainees are fully supported in their learning and consistently experience a rich and rewarding developmental experience with successful outcomes, including acting as a tutor to trainees yourself.
The successful applicant will be an aspirational and enthusiastic professional who is seeking to experience the additional responsibilities and challenges of a senior role within an organisation that is at the forefront of national sector developments and who can continually improve our practice.
You will have:
- A degree qualification or equivalent and Qualified Teacher Status.
- A minimum of three years good or outstanding teaching experience.
- Experience of developing and delivering successful evidence based training programmes.
- The ability to co-ordinate a large number of partners to deliver ITE outcomes to a high standard.
- The ability to prioritise work efficiently and accurately, particularly under pressure, to deadlines and using own initiative.
