Key Responsibilities
Deputy Director of Sixth Form
• Coordinate the Civitas tutor team and the 6th Form Personal Development programme.
• Organise and Coordinate weekly briefings and arranging relevant speakers throughout the year.
• Monitor and analyse behaviour tracking and rewards systems.
• Strategic oversight of the student leadership programme. This includes coordinating enrichment, D.O.E leadership and also training and developing our student leaders to take their place in the Student Senate.
• Lead Charities Week, KS3/4 peer mentoring, volunteering (subject and community) programmes and student voice.
• Plan the extra-curricular enrichment programme (social, cultural and recreational) to ensure outstanding opportunities and experiences for all learners, the development of employability and work readiness, including a range of widening participation activities aimed at disadvantaged learners.
• Work closely with the careers lead to coordinate work experience and opportunities outside of the classroom.
• To support the DOSF to ensure viable student numbers each year through the recruitment and enrolment of students. This includes supporting key events; Open morning, Interview days, information evenings, Enrolment days including GCSE examination result days and the days to follow as required.
Assessment, tracking & intervention
• To work closely with the DOSF to ensure all KS5 subjects are assessing, tracking and intervening effectively for linear A ‘levels.
• With the DOSF, implement & evaluate the Assessment Calendar with the KS5 coordinators to maximise learning time and use of student assessment data.
• To ensure the quality of teaching & learning enables students to independently learn effectively & develop students’ ability to take responsibility for their own success.
• To set up an interventions to ensure all students are on track to achieve their target grades.
Leadership and Management
• Be an outstanding Science teacher, able to motivate and challenge learners of all abilities across Key Stages 3-5.
• The ability to lead others and inspire by in of the curriculum.
• Oversee and analyse the student performance tracking & staged intervention programme to support students’ learning and achievements.
Teaching and Learning
• Develop plans and processes for the classroom with measurable results. Interpret and develop results to make improvements in pupil achievement.
• To review and evaluate current exam boards against Ark standard creating strategic action plans.
• Exude a passion for Science which is evident in their day to day classroom practice.
• To support in developing an engaging and challenging curriculum that inspires pupils to appreciate the subject and its application and which meets the needs of the pupils.
• To deliver outstanding teaching and learning of science, thereby helping pupils achieve excellent academic results.
• Have a proven track record of success and raising pupil attainment.

Training Opportunities
Our HR and Teaching and Learning teams are dedicated to offering the best development for all staff joining the academy, challenging and supporting staff to excel in their roles. In order to deliver exceptional training, we offer twice as many training days as standard. For teaching staff, we offer weekly CPD sessions which are held on a vast array of topics and run by many staff all showcasing their expertise. To develop the trainers, we ensure all sessions are reviewed retrospectively providing feedback and suggesting presentation and content improvements. We also offer weekly line management for everyone, additional coaching sessions for new and trainee staff and a more regular and developmental appraisal system.
Wellbeing and Inclusion
At Bolingbroke we value the individual and encourage difference. To achieve this, we start with inclusive recruiting practices. Starting from our job descriptions to blind recruiting, structured shortlisting and scoring we ensure that all employees applying are only measured against their skills, achievements and values. We want all our employees to have a voice, these can be heard through the wellbeing committee or diversity group. The Diversity Group promotes diversity within the curriculum, pupil’s school experience and for staff whilst the Wellbeing committee consists of representatives from all departments in the school and highlights issues concerning the staff and supporting in creating achievable and beneficial solutions. All staff are involved in co-planning meaning their input into the curriculum and teaching strategies are implemented. An employee will also have a 360 aspect to all appraisals ensuring peer review and employees to contribute to their managers appraisals. The school is dedicated to training and develop their leaders and staff on diversity and inclusion through a programme of CPD sessions and online training.

Like all Ark academies, Bolingbroke Academy will specialise in mathematics. We also have a strong focus on music, which helps develop self-expression, self-discipline, performance and team work as well as building a strong sense of community through collective participation. Our aim is for every pupil to play an instrument confidently and to take part in regular performances.
