Job overview

The Deputy Estates Manager will work collaboratively with the Estates Manager and other members of the estates team to ensure the site is well-maintained and meets regulatory safety standards. This includes the day-to-day management of the team, maintenance and compliancy contractors. This role requires the post holder to be student and staff facing. The Deputy Estates Manager will regularly discuss service issues with the Estates Manager and make recommendations for improvements. The estates team provide a proactive service that ensures the smooth operation of education and facility services.

THE VACANCY

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The main requirements are set out in the personal specification document. It is essential for the post holder to have experience of working in estates management, and desirable to have some experience of working within a school or college. Good record keeping and communication skills are also essential.

The post carries the responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people that the holder comes into contact with.

The successful applicant must fulfil all of the 'essential' criteria listed on the person specification.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

This is a permanent, full time, all year round only post with a probationary period of six months. The weekly working hours are 37, Monday to Friday flexibly covering between the hours of 8am and 6pm. There is a 30 mins lunch break each day which is unpaid. The contract will require the successful candidate to work flexibly in order to fulfil the requirements of the post. The Contract of Employment and Conditions of Service will be based on those provided by the Sixth Form Colleges' Association.

Salary will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges Association support staff pay scale, grade 30 - 36 (currently £23,851 - £28,967 per annum). Qualifying service greater than 5 years will enhance the holiday pay element in the salary.

All support staff are automatically enrolled with the Local Government Pension Scheme.

There is an employee benefit scheme in operation at the college.

It is compulsory for all members of staff to attend the annual open events in mid-October (which will be an evening and Saturday), for which there is a compensating college closure day/TOIL given.
