The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive Deputy Facilities Manager to join the Site Team to undertake a wide range of duties including carrying out first line repairs and maintenance, lettings supervision, site security, porterage, some cleaning and to be a key-holder for out-of-hours emergencies and alarm calls. The ability to work without supervision is essential.

Some of your key responsibilities will include: 

  • To line manage the Caretakers and the Cleaners, organise their work and manage the performance of direct line staff. 
  • To ensure that routine procedures, inspections and servicing for the effective operation of the site are carried out. 
  • Implement policies for emergency situations and incidents to assure the safety of all persons on site and minimise disruption. 
  • Act as the keyholder, carrying out security procedures for the buildings and grounds, the routine and non-routine opening of premises and grounds, all calls outside normal working hours as a result of break-ins etc. and/or the setting-off of the burglar alarm or fire alarm. 
  • Attempting to prevent unauthorised access onto the school premises or grounds.

We're looking for you if you have: 

  • Have experience of caretaking and/or buildings maintenance and security 
  • Have the ability to manage your own time effectively and demonstrate a flexible, proactive approach 
  • Experience of Health & Safety procedures and codes of practice 
  • The ability to carry out first line repairs and maintenance 
  • Experience of leading a team

St Helena School has modern and purpose built facilities. The school has a robust CPD training programme that allows our staff to flourish in addition to internal CPD at St Helena, staff have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the Sigma Trust to share resources, ideas and build collaborative relationships. Excellent support is provided by the Sigma Trust.

This post is 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
