Job overview

The Deputy Faculty Head will be responsible for supporting the Faculty Head and will contribute to and play a key role in driving forward the quality and curriculum agenda.   

  

Purpose & Key Accountabilities  

  

•          Support the Faculty Head in providing leadership within the faculty from the SLG  

•          To support the Faculty Head in ensuring full communication from the SLG to the faculty  

•          To have a responsibility for ensuring learners receive an outstanding experience to enable them to successfully complete their studies.  

•          To support the Faculty Head in the raising of standards of learners’ attainment and achievement within the whole faculty and to monitor and support learner progress.  

•          To be responsible for learner progress and development within the remit of the faculty area.  

•          To understand the multi-faceted needs of students with a focus on individuals.  

•          Be responsible for compliance with all College processes and systems within your faculty  

•          To support the Faculty Head in ensuring the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum offer for learners studying within the faculty area. 

 

 

•          Implement the managing and development of the

subject/curriculum areas within the faculty in line with the faculty remit.  

To ensure programmes are operating within the College’s quality systems, are delivered to a high standard and are providing learners with the opportunities to succeed.  

•          Support the development of an inclusive curriculum and learning environment for learners, one is which diversity is reflected and valued and expectations of success are high.  

•          Ensure the curriculum offer fits into the learning and skills environment and is responsive to employers and the community, meeting funding priorities and faculty targets.  

  

 As a Deputy Faculty Head the appointee will expected to:   

  

•          Work closely with and support the Faculty Head, deputising fully when necessary.     

•          Manage and lead on a substantial area of work within a faculty ensuring that learners receive a quality service and that Head of Schools receive guidance and day-to-day operational support  

•          Work with the Head of Schools to support recruitment, admissions and marketing activities, ensuring a responsive and prompt service to prospective students  

•          Be responsible for carrying out all related duties and responsibilities required as part of a teaching commitment.  

•          Keep up to date with Industry and education developments such as new technologies and T levels in order to ensure their smooth introduction into the curriculum.   

  

Key Duties   

  

Operational Management and Planning   

 

•      Support the Head of Faculty in the process of formulating aims, objectives and curriculum plans for the faculty which have coherence and relevance to the needs of learners and to the aims, objectives and strategic plans of the College.  

•      Under the guidance of the Head of Faculty implement and deliver that plan within the faculty and the monitoring of recruitment, achievement and efficiency throughout the year.  

•      Under the guidance of the Head of Faculty, ensure the faculty vision and plans are clearly and effectively communicated to faculty staff  

•      Support and management of all programmes within the faculty
