Benenden School is seeking an innovative new Deputy Head Academic to succeed Ali Harber following her appointment as Deputy Head Pastoral at Winchester College.

Benenden was founded in 1923, and today is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading boarding schools. Benenden is passionate about education in the very broadest sense of the word, ensuring that each of its 550 girls leave school as confident, well-rounded young adults prepared for their futures. The new Deputy Head Academic will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the academic curriculum to ensure a commitment to academic excellence, the highest quality of pupil engagement and learning, and the most successful outcomes for each individual throughout the school. They will oversee the close monitoring of pupil progress to ensure that each student is both supported and challenged.

The Deputy Head Academic is a member of the core SMT and will contribute to the development and delivery of the school’s academic strategy. Candidates will bring a proven track record in academic success, a commitment to holistic education, and a passion for getting involved across this busy and exciting school.

Candidates will, ideally, take up the role in September 2021, but a later start date of January 2022 will be considered.

The post-holder will be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children with whom they come into contact. The post-holder must ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection Policy Statement at all times, this appointment will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks.
