We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Head (Academic) for September 2022 to the Senior Leadership Team at Sandroyd. The successful candidate will work in support of the Headmaster, and be responsible for building on the current high academic reputation of Sandroyd. The Deputy Head (Academic) should have the passion and ability to drive all aspects of academic provision forward across the whole school. The current post holder has recently been appointed as a Head in a primary school. Whilst the post becomes vacant in April 2022, due to required notice periods, it is anticipated that the new Deputy Head will not be appointed until September 2022.

The Deputy Head (Academic) will possess strong people management skills, have a collegiate style of working and be a good listener. They should be able to respond decisively and quickly to matters that arise during meetings or the school day. Candidates should show a great sense of commitment and have an impressive work ethic. They should be a good sounding board for the Headmaster with a wise head on their shoulders. They must inspire trust and command the respect of pupils, staff and parents alike.

Sandroyd School is a co-educational preparatory school for both day and boarding pupils aged 2-13. It is located in 60 acres of fields, woods, and parkland near the village of Tollard Royal in Wiltshire. The pupil roll is around 230.

Sandroyd Pre-Prep was purpose-built in 2004 in the original walled garden and is home to boys and girls aged 2-7.

Sandroyd School takes its name from Sandroyd House, the home of the Reverend L H Wellesley Wesle, in Cobham, Surrey. In 1888, he created a small coaching establishment for the sons of his friends who were due to go to Eton. Over the years, the school grew rapidly, changing its premises to its current location Rushmore House. The school is a charitable trust and is administered by its board of governors.
