Bradfield College

Appointment of a Deputy Head (Academic)

Bradfield College has inspired generations of young people to make a difference to the world since 1850. Set in a stunning rural Berkshire location with state-of the-art facilities, including an iconic Greek theatre, Bradfield provides an outstanding education to circa 820 pupils aged 13 to 18, of whom approximately 90% are boarders.

The College enjoys a well-established reputation for being one of the UK’s leading co-educational independent schools where pupils develop as well-rounded, independent young adults within an atmosphere of empathy and tolerance. With a forward-looking Strategy and following the announcement of the establishment of the Bradfield Group, the College is looking to its 200th anniversary in 2050 with ambition, and its new Deputy Head (Academic) will play a key strategic leadership role in helping to position the College for the future.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding leader and classroom practitioner, able to empower all learners to develop to their full potential, both academically and personally. A compelling ambassador, they will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of all academic matters within the College, delivering a bold and innovative vision for the culture of teaching and learning, enrichment, and achievement. They will demonstrate sophisticated strategic thinking and a proven track record of leading nuanced, data-informed change as a Senior or experienced Middle Leader. For individuals aspiring to headship, this post offers the opportunity to develop as a leader in a highly successful and ambitious environment.

Completed applications should be uploaded at: https://candidates.perrettlaver.com/vacancies/ quoting reference number 5485.

About Bradfield College

Founded in 1850 by Thomas Stevens, and set in the village of Bradfield amidst unspoilt Berkshire countryside, Bradfield College enjoys a well-established reputation for being one of the country’s leading co-educational, independent schools through its provision of academic excellence and a well-rounded education.

The College welcomes pupils from Britain and overseas; the pupil body numbers approximately 770, comprising 480 boys and 290 girls from 13 to 18 years of age.

Boys and girls enter Bradfield at 13+ and many more join the College’s popular and vibrant Sixth Form, where they can choose to study either the IB or A Levels. Faulkner’s, a state-of-the-art boarding house, is specially designed to help all girls and boys make a happy and successful transition from prep school (we recruit from more than 70) to senior school; pupils then move into one of 11 senior houses.

We offer an unrivalled sports and activities programme for all our pupils which ensures that every girl and boy has the opportunity to develop valuable skills outside the classroom, wherever their interests lie.
