What it’s about:

OCR’s reformed suite of AS and A Levels was developed between 2013 and 2017 and has been successfully launched to our customers. The organisation now has an opportunity to take advantage of this substantial, successful investment and strengthen its position in its key markets. 

The Deputy Head of A Level Products will play a crucial part in ensuring OCR realises this opportunity. It will be responsible for identifying ways to improve our products and ensure they are well placed to address market opportunities. Alongside the Head of A Level Products, the successful applicant will lead the future direction of our current and next generation products.

The Deputy Head of A Level Products will hold responsibility for the long term success of a multi-million pound suite of products. The role will sit at the heart of the organisation, working extensively with all OCR’s departments to achieve its goals. 

What you’ll be doing:

The key accountabilities for the Deputy Head of A Level Products will be:

  • Monitor product performance, establishing actions for enhancing performance.
  • Identify product opportunities and risks and the resulting actions.
  • Develop and maintain product plans, and lead the associated business delivery.
  • Build product development proposals, defining the associated vision and targets.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on campaign specifications and targets.
  • Establish product support requirements, identifying opportunities for improvement.

What we’re looking for:

  • You will have strong commercial acumen; synthesising financial information and a broad range of performance data to make decisions and recommendations that ensure OCR’s products are commercially successful. To achieve this you will be confident in      understanding and balancing customer, regulatory and assessment requirements.
  • You will have a good understanding of the qualifications markets in which OCR’s products operate. Ideally, you will also have experience of product management in the assessment or education sector.
  • You will demonstrate the ability to be future focused, continually driving improvement to increase the effectiveness of OCR’s product portfolio.  Above all, you will be an adept communicator and influence, able to work collaboratively to bring colleagues with you and      to embed this approach across the business.
