Bishop’s Primary School is the collective name of the Primary campuses of the Northumberland Church of England Academy Trust.

Within Bishop’s Primary School there are five campuses and three Early Years Centres. Three campuses serve the community of Ashington: Thomas Bewick, James Knott and Josephine Butler Primary. Newbiggin by-the-Sea is served by the Grace Darling Campus  Infant and Junior campuses, and Lynemouth by the William Leech Campus. All the campuses provide a high quality of teaching and learning, tailored to meet the specific needs of our pupils.

At Bishop’s Primary School, we seek to support high achievement for all our pupils so that
each child can ‘shine brightly’.  The Academy motto, “Let your Light Shine” is taken from St Matthew’s Gospel and encourages everyone to discover and use the gifts and talents that they all have been given.

We have high aspirations for all of our children and endeavour to support them to be the very best that they can be. We take great pride in the success and achievements of our pupils. All of our results in 2018 were above the national average and we are particularly proud of the numbers of pupils who achieved ‘greater depth’

The Bishop’s school curriculum is designed to engage pupils and inspire them to become creative and independent thinkers with a love of learning and a thirst for knowledge. We actively encourage pupils to get involved and contribute to the life of the Academy and to be active, respectful and caring members of the communities that they live in as well as thoughtful members of the global community.

We foster a positive partnership with parents and carers and work together to achieve success for our children.

Mrs Melanie Hinson, Principal: Bishop’s Primary School
