Deputy Head of English

Ron Dearing University Technical College (RDUTC) seeks an inspirational and skilled Deputy Head of English to:

• Work with our Head of English to lead our high-performing and friendly English Department;
• Teach English Literature and Language to GCSE and, if appropriate, A Level.

• Carry out all the Professional Teacher Standards relevant to your pay scale.
• Deputise for the Head of English when required.
• Support the Head of English with: Curriculum planning, departmental improvement plannings, quality assurance of teaching and learning, and mentoring ITT and SCITT trainees.
• Lead data-informed assessment and the co-ordination of intervention for GCSE English Lit. and Lang.
• Teach English Lit. and Lang. to GCSE.
• Teach A Level English and/or A Level English language & Literature, if appropriate.
• Deliver English intervention programmes for KS4 students at risk of underachievement.
• Contribute to the Enrichment programme.
• Support the development of literacy across the curriculum.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of an outstanding, innovative and creative curriculum comprised of high quality technical and academic options and utilising the latest technologies.
• Work with University and Employer Partners to ensure an employer-engaged model of learning.
• Implement all relevant RDUTC policies effectively and consistently.
• Develop RDUTC as a catalyst for social and economic change, improving the outcomes for students and supporting the regeneration of the local economy.
• Be committed to supporting students through their learning journey from 14-19 and beyond.
