The Post: Deputy Head of Primary

 • Embody the values, vision and ethos of Wellington International School, and assist the CEO and Principals in formulating policy which will ensure high quality and successful outcomes 

• Support the CEO and Principals in achieving the key strategic objectives for the School through formulating and leading on specific aspects of the School improvement plan

• Be fully accountable for key aspects of the work of the Primary School providing analytical comment on performance measured against a number of key performance indicators 

• Support strategic curriculum modelling, development and implementation to ensure that the needs of all students are met through competency-led approaches and appropriate learning pathways in Lower School 

• Be responsible for the creation of a Centre of Excellence for Early Years teaching ensuring outstanding practice is heard across the GEMS network 

• Place the School at the cutting edge of research, policy and practice in the transformation of teaching and learning and to formulate and lead the Academy Enrichment Programme

• Be responsible for the monitoring, evaluation and continuous review of the quality and effectiveness of curriculum delivery maintaining an awareness and knowledge of contemporary trends, developments, theory and methods in the transformation of teaching and learning within the Primary School 

• Ensure that all staff are supported with high quality on going professional development and training which contributes to the development and achievements of the School as a genuine learning institution 

• Lead on key strategic developments (phase specific) which result in raised attainment and outcomes for all students

About GEMS Wellington International School

GEMS Wellington International School, a mixed private school for children aged 3-18, is situated in the Al Sufouh area of Dubai and is owned and run by GEMS Education. Student numbers are over 2,800, around half of whom are British.

The school was established in 2005 and offers the National Curriculum of England from Foundation Stage to Year 11 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, courses and careers programme in Years 12 and 13. It also offers opportunities for students to excel in leadership, sport, creative and performing arts.

All GEMS teachers have access to the GEMS Professional Development programme and over 150 events and workshops each year to help keep their teaching practices cutting-edge.
