HeadStart is based in the centre of Phuket Island and gained ‘International School’ status in 2010. We are now a fully accredited International School with The Education Development Trust, having been awarded the International Schools Quality Mark (ISQM). The most recent accreditation showed the school to be a ‘Good School with Outstanding Features’.

We have been offering Cambridge qualifications throughout all Key Stages including IGCSEs & A Levels for many years. In addition we now also offer BTEC and LAMDA programmes. The school has over 800 students on roll and is moving towards becoming oversubscribed in many year groups.

Deputy Head of Secondary (Academic) –

We are looking to appoint an experienced and inspirational educational leader to the position of Deputy Head of Secondary (Academic).

The successful candidate will have responsibility for curriculum and standards across the Secondary school, including monitoring, tracking and analysis of teaching and learning, and standards achieved by pupils throughout the Secondary school. 

This role will include whole school timetabling and working with the Academic Systems Manager, will help administer the school's MIS (Engage by Double First). The successful candidate must have experience of administering an MIS and also a sound knowledge of timetabling.

Organising examinations, including IGCSE, As & A Level and acting as the Quality Nominee for our BTEC programme will also be important aspects of the role.

The successful candidate will have the personal qualities for leadership under the direction of the Head of Secondary, and will lead by example, commanding the respect of pupils, colleagues and parents.

The Deputy Head of Secondary (Academic) will work in partnership with the Head of Secondary to promote the educational direction of the school. They will have a proven track record of outstanding teaching, and be passionate about innovative teaching and learning. They will be committed to curriculum development; ensuring that our dynamic curriculum remains a relevant, broad and enriching curriculum where every pupil is inspired and given the opportunity to achieve.

We are looking for a highly committed team player with drive, energy and passion, who will inspire a love of learning within their students.  A good sense of humour and an excellent work ethic are essential. 

Requirements / Application Details –

Essential Requirements:  

  • Good knowledge of the  Cambridge International / English National curriculum for KS3, IGCSE and A Level. 
  • Experience of administering an MIS 
  •  Sound knowledge and understanding of timetabling 
  • High level of tracking and data analysis skills 
  • Ability to motivate and inspire staff and to drive school improvement   
  • A proven track record of whole school improvement   
  • Several years experience in a leadership and management role   
  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university   
  • A recognised teaching qualification: BEd.; PGCE; or equivalent   
  • Must be a fluent English speaker

Desirable Requirements (not essential):

· Previous experience in an International School environment

· Experience of teaching  to English as an Additional Language learners

Headstart International School Phuket is a mixed, mainstream, all-through with sixth-form, international school in Phuket, Thailand. It caters to students aged 2 to 18 and has approximately 1150 pupils enrolled across two campuses on the island.

Headstart International School Phuket was founded in 2005 and, over the years, it has become one of Phuket’s leading international school. It’s the only school in Phuket that offers Cambridge IGCSEs, A levels and BTECs. The school’s main mission is to inspire a love of learning for every student. They work hard to hire a dedicated team of teachers to help them provide a high quality education for its pupils at a school that boasts stellar facilities. The curriculum used is a blend of the English National Curriculum and the Cambridge International curriculum for Primary and Secondary, offering IGCSEs,  A Levels and BTEC qualifications at KS4 and KS5.
