The International Community School (ICS) is the home of #themonalisaeffect and one of the longest established and most successful international non-proprietary schools in the Middle East. Due to the departure of the current postholder after almost 10 years of service, the school is seeking to recruit an outstanding and inspirational Deputy Head of Secondary to join our Secondary team in January 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter. As a key member of the Academic Leadership team, the Deputy Head of Secondary will be a driving force in the continued development of the Secondary phase.

Since opening in 1955, ICS has developed an outstanding reputation and provides a personalised, high quality education, drawing on the best of British and international practice. The school is proud to nurture and invest in an inclusive and diverse learning community of happy, confident and creative global citizens. We adapt the National Curriculum for England and Wales to our international context, from Foundation Stage through to GCSEs, BTEC and A levels, and are, without doubt, one of the most international of all international schools in the region, with students drawn from more than 65 nations. We are a very well-resourced school, with small class sizes (average 20) and, currently, just over 700 students from Kindergarten to Y13.
In May 2016, ICS was granted membership to the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the school is currently seeking full CIS Accreditation over the next 12-18 months. Furthermore, following an external inspection in October 2016, ICS was awarded BSO (British Overseas School) Status and rated as a 'good school with significant strengths'. The school is also a full member of the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) and a member of COBIS (Council of British International Schools) and ECIS (Educational Collaborative for International Schools).
