Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Deputy Head of Senior School from the 1st September 2020.  There are some 140 students in our Senior School from over thirty different countries. The school follows the English National Curriculum in Key Stage 3 and Edexcel IGCSE in Key Stage 4.  Southlands gained the status of an IB World School in 2015 and our first IBDP cohort graduated in July 2017.  

As well as carrying out the duties of the Deputy Head of Senior School, the role has a teaching commitment with reduced contact time to fulfil the needs of the post.

The successful candidate will ideally have working knowledge of IB philosophy and practices. They will have experience of, and a commitment to, leading and developing school pastoral systems and be passionate about the need for strong support systems to raise student achievement and wellbeing.

Essential requirements:

• to have experience of pastoral leadership

• to possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills

• one of the following; to be a UK resident with a valid passport, dual passport holder, already in possession of a valid visa that allows work in Italy, or to be a citizen of the EU

• to hold "Qualified Teacher Status" or equivalent qualification
