Job overview

Cheney School is a popular, high-performing school located in the heart of Oxford serving a diverse community of students who are eager to learn. The success of the school as an Academy has led to Cheney School expanding into a Multi Academy Trust.

We are currently looking for an outstanding Deputy Headteacher to join our vibrant school community. We are looking for a committed and exceptional leader and practitioner with student-facing values, with the right level of ambition and a deep commitment to learning to assume this challenging and rewarding leadership role.

You may already be a Deputy Head yet are looking for a position which offers a greater dimension for personal and professional development in a stimulating, intellectually challenging environment. Alternatively, you may be ready for a greater challenge in a more extensive role.

As a senior leader you will be passionate about how excellence in teaching and learning improves the life chances of every student. You will have a portfolio of experience which demonstrates how you have led and implemented innovative plans which resulted in significant improvements to student outcomes.  We are looking to appoint the right person to this crucial role at Cheney School and as such, your final job description and your start date can be open to an element of negotiation in order to best suit your needs and meets the School’s requirement. Some of the areas on which you may lead will include:

  • The development of line managers and the leadership of academic areas.
  • Work scrutiny and data analysis for enhanced school performance.
  • Academy vision and strategy.
  • Curriculum development.
  • Teaching and Learning.
  • Continuous self-evaluation and improvement programmes.
  • Performance management and CPD requirements of staff.
  • Impact of pastoral and academic provision.

If you believe you have the commitment and desire to work in an environment which seeks to contribute limitless aspirations as well as set and maintain high standards and expectations then please apply.

We will reward the successful candidate with a competitive salary and benefits; an opportunity to improve on our already excellent record, and to develop his or her leadership potential in our Multi Academy Trust (MAT).
